  8. Really disappointed by mahabharat skit! Couldnt watch it!

    Why?
    * Its not original; its based on popular history mahabharat, which has great respect for indian people and people around the world
    * mahabharat carries lot of sentiment among indian people
    * we dont mock our own culture- if we start to make fun of our own culture then who will respect the indian culture
    * its tasteless and cheap fun

If you really want to have funny skit get original or some funny social or political situations. Don't make fun of our own culture!

  10. We can change color scheme of the site...it's hard on eyes...just my 2 cents.

  11. This year we have seen many changes in the program format. Some of them were very good ideas. Including the viewers in the program, encouraging kids to dance and catching people off guard was very good.
Adult dance performance was very entaining.
A suggestion for future program can be that singing should be group performance too.
One change which was kind of disappointing was many people left after their kids programs were done rather than staying for all the performances..It was like kids danced for their parents rather than the whole crowd. I know that were in a time limit but we should come up with a plan so some of kids might not feel out.

  12. Programs need to be improved. there should be some jokes, funny dramas with kids, good songs etc.,

    ReplyDelete
  13. Programs anni avakundane food gurinchi announce chesesariki audience andaru vellipoyaru. For some of the last programs (from 20th performance onwards), there were no audience at all. It was very disappointing for the performers since they worked so hard to show up their talent.

  14. The program was long and people either attended the beginning or the ending of the program based on when their kids performance is. Though I wanted to I couldn't attend all programs as kids needed to use restroom, have a snack etc.
May be we should do a break in between where kids and parents can have a snack. May be we should do the Movie format. 1 1/2 hr, break and 1 hr and dinner.

And I very much wish that the community as a whole honours the rules set for the program regarding punctuality , cleanliness, ticketing etc.

  15. I totally agree with the previous couple of blogs like, "Having breaks for snacks, Audiences are leaving when they are done with their kids performances and Announcing that the dinner is ready in the middle of the program. Kids, parents and coordinator's worked so hard to put this event together. Once the dinner was announced, the auditorium was half empty for some of the last programs. It was very disappointing. Since the program was too long (4 hours), people get tired and hungry. If we have a 30 – 45 min break for refreshments, then the dinner can be preceded after the program. No Offence, but this is a Telugu event, I think we should only have Telugu programs.

  16. I should have done this before but here are good things I liked:
    -Very nice food
    -Mostly good programs
-Very good organization. Nice team work.
-Encouraging audience to participitate is a good idea
    -Organized serving
-Learning about Andhra Pradesh was good. It's educational for kids as well as adults.
-Program on telugu literature was very good.

  17. Hi shyam this is annaya, having seen your longschedule of ugadi celeb list and the previous comments, the work on your blog is good. inorder to improve d interest among all and to ensure staying of all the people till the end, do this next time:
1.introduce Prizes( as well as partcipation gifts to all)to be given at the end
2.instead of all the songs & dances conduct one anthyakshari that include rounds of gk,audio, video and acting silently & identifying by their grout etc.
3.In between programs suddenly announce one SURprize those having a special thing(most gold, most pockets,5 re coin, long hair etc)
But it is good to come together with a noble cause on Telugu new year.Continue your effort
taking comments as opportunities for improvement.

  18. For most part the program was a big sucess. I do agree with other people that we need to have breaks. Also, I know it is hard but there was a lot of commotion..be it with kids or adults. May be it will help if we have couple of volunteers with in the crowd to control that..Loved the Journey of Telugu Literature..Presentation on Andhra could have been more interesting..

  19. All this being just volunteer effort is great work in itself! Kudos to the organizing committee who have been doing this for years. We all need to recognize and appreciate them. And I just hope that we don't miss that traditional touch and the warmth in it as the numbers increase in Omaha.
Would you be please publish the complete list of the organizing committee? Thanks to them for making us feel at home.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes of course the event is a big success and we all have to appreciate the active committee for their efforts. It would have been nicer if the audiences are there the whole time but I can totally understand as the duration of the program is very long. That happens, especially with kids they can’t stick at one place for long time. Next time handing over boxed dinners is a good idea????? We may be missing the social gathering that usually happens in dinner area but that will make the event shorter or we have to pick a place where dinner can be served at one side while the program is going on. I do not think anyone allows food in the auditorium may be once the temple new social hall is built we may have in that fashion. Giving suggestions is easy  I am just giving my 2 cents. I do agree with Venu Bandi gaaru, we may have to think on changing color scheme of the site. It is hard on eyes. Thank you.

  21. The audio speakers/micro phones were not functioning properly. some times its too noisy and some times it wont work at all. we barely hear anything. As good sound system adds more weightage to any musical program, please make sure that it works properly next time. I really appreciate the entire organizing team fo their efforts to make it big success.

    ReplyDelete
  22. First, I would appreciate all the time/efforts the committee has put in it. Great job!Once again a success.
Food was fantastic and the events were great.Involving audience was great. I would like to throw my 2 cents to make it better.
The program was too lengthy. Each kid can participate in only one event - be it dance/skit/song. No exceptions! There was whinning that their kid program was way beginning or in the way end. To address this, I think once all the events are finalized, if committee can meet with all choregraphers for a drawing..that would be great. The drawing would decide the sequence of events with "certain reservations" to certain events (don't say Ganesha Pancharatnam is last because of drawing :-)). The last thing organizers deserve for their hardwork is the accusation of showing nepotism.
It is not easy being a DJ. Great job.Usage of more Telugu would be great.
I agree with earlier post "boxed" dinner saves time. Easy access to snacks to kids was very thoughtful. The price for the event was very reasonable.
Gita sloka recital was awesome. Unfortunately, very pathetic, we, the audience were busy talking. I wish there is a blog to send comments to us audience ( that includes me first) :-).
Overall, a great show by kids, adults, organisers, volunteers and well behaved audience.

  23. Entry into the hall needs to be maintained strictly by issuing the tickets to everyone. Same way like how movie theatres maintain. This rule should be applicable to everyone.

    A. To enforce this rule, we need to keep somebody on shift system at the outer most entrance door to make sure visitors are allowed only after purchasing/producing the ticket

    B. This rule must be implemented until the end of the event. Some people turned-up around 5 pm and nobody was there to sell the tickets. They entered the hall freely

    C. Some people who came late around 5 pm were searching for the counter where tickets are issued. But they could'nt find anybody there.

Other than minor issues, overall the event was successful.

  24. I agree with one of the comments above. somebody needs to control kids. They are flocking at the stage and the programs are not visible for the audience who was watching from their chairs.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have got one suggestion. we need to install a drop-box for the visitors to drop cash, checks, etc., to collect more funds.

There may be some well wishers who want to donate some funds to the organization. we miss them if we dont have drop-box.

we can utilise these funds for good cause. If we dont need any funds, we can donate these collected funds to our Hindu temple.

  26. I totally agree with some of the comments above about announcing about the food before the programs are done, Kids and Parents worked so hard for that moment and we are really disappointed to see half of the auditorium empty by the time kids got to dance. Need to have a break. Really loved the concept of including audience.

  27. Entire Event photos need to be taken by one person and all the pics need to be uploaded at one location so that everyone can access it

    ReplyDelete
  28. video coverage needs to be done by one person for entire event and split it into program wise and upload at one location so that everyone can access it

    ReplyDelete
  29. webcast need to be done for entire event so that anyone can access it from anywhere. Wireless internet connection permission needs to be taken prior to the actual event to be able to setup the system and webcast it. We need one HD webcam and laptop with faster speed for this

  30. Information such as indian classical music training, indian classical dance training, movie songs dancing training, movie songs singing training, etc., which are provided in & around Omaha need to be published in a booklet and distribute to the visitors. Same thing can be published on the blog

  31. Business houses like Indian grocery stores, restaurants etc., etc., run by desi people need to be in a booklet and distribute to the visitors. Same thing can be published on the blog

  32. Entry into the hall needs to be maintained strictly by issuing the tickets to everyone. Same way like how movie theatres maintain. This rule will be applicable to everyone.
    a. To enforce this rule, we need to keep somebody on shift basis at the outer most entrance door to make sure visitors are allowed only after purchasing/producing the ticket.
    b. This rule will be applicable until end of the program. Some people turned-up around 6 pm and nobody was there to sell the tickets. They entered inside the hall freely

  33. we need to install a drop-box for the visitors to drop cash, checks, etc., to collect more funds

    ReplyDelete
  34. Some people were hesitating to go again for re-fills while having food. We need to announce clearly in the beginning itself that free-refills are available

    ReplyDelete
  35. Announcements should be done both in telugu and English as some people may not understand telugu even though they are having telugu nativity or some non-telugu people attend just to know and understand our culture

    ReplyDelete
  36. Somebody needs to control kids. There are flocking at the stage and the programs are not visible for the audience

    ReplyDelete
  37. Need to gather visitor info like name, email id and contact number and to encourage to bring more people and register their email id at Google groups

    ReplyDelete
  38. Some songs/dances were repeated from 2010. It’s not a good practice. People feel bored of seeing same program again and again. There should not be any repetition of the same programs

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anchoring on-the- stage and off-the-stage was good and handled well

    ReplyDelete
  40. first thing the event was successful. my best wishes to organisation. I hope they make the events happen atleast yearly 3 times.
